6 Essential Rules to Remember When You Mow Your Lawn

If you want a nice looking lawn, here are some vital rules for you to follow!

1)The 1/3 Rule

Never cut more than 1/3 of the total length of the grass blade at a time. This will help lessen stress on the grass blade and keep the blade healthy and more resistant to diseases.

2) Don’t Mow Tall Grass

Don’t try to barrel in to tall grass to get it mowed, especially if it is taller than your mower deck, see how to mow tall grass.

3) Don’t Mow Wet Grass

Mowing wet grass will lead to clumps, mower stalls, and rough grass blades.

4) Switch Mowing Directions

Alternating which way you mow each time will prevent the grass blades from leaning a certain direction. This promotes a more even and straight cut.

5) Only Mow with Sharp Blades

Sharp blades are particularly important. Dull blades will damage your grass. Before you begin, always check to be sure you blades are not dull or damaged.

6) Keep Your Mower Clean

Always clean your mower after every use. To keep your mower running properly, be sure to clear all of the grass clippings out from under the deck.

Follow these rules and your lawn will stay looking healthy throughout mowing season and it will make your job a lot easier!
